BPT admission: the 2026–27 NEET clarification

BPT admission: the 2026–27 NEET clarification
Course factWhat it means for your choice
Full qualificationBachelor of Physiotherapy: undergraduate study in movement, physical function and rehabilitation.
National entrance clarificationNCAHP’s letter dated 2 March 2026 defers the mandatory NEET-UG appearance requirement for BPT/BOT until academic year 2027–28.
2026–27 merit basis in that letterThe letter provides for merit based on Class 12 Physics, Chemistry and Biology aggregate. It specifies 50% for unreserved/General-EWS and 40% for SC, ST, OBC-NCL and PwBD/PwD candidates, with an English pass for every category.
Your applicationUse the admitting authority’s 2026–27 notice for registration, documentary evidence and implementation. Do not use an older NEET statement as the only admission instruction.
Programme durationRead the university’s curriculum adopted for your intake and its internship period together. Do not transfer a duration from a previous batch or another university.
Training focusPhysiotherapy involves assessment and rehabilitation of movement and function. Clinical learning should include supervised practice and patient follow-up, with clearly identified placement sites.

Source: NCAHP’s 2 March 2026 letter, pages 1–2 (checked 28 September 2026). The deferral is specific to the stated academic year; it is not a permanent exemption for every future intake. The Health Ministry’s April 2025 curriculum announcement provides the national reform context.

START WITH WHAT MATTERS

Verify the programme you will actually join.

Use the institution's current admission notice together with applicable authority instructions. Older summaries may not reflect a new intake.

01

Current entry requirements

Confirm subjects, marks, entrance or merit criteria and any required NEET participation for the specific programme and year. Do not assume one rule covers every BPT application.

02

Curriculum and duration

Ask for the curriculum implemented for your batch, the stated programme duration and internship structure. Check how any new framework is being applied by the admitting institution.

03

Clinical supervision

Identify where practical postings take place, who supervises them and how learning is assessed. A hospital association alone does not describe the quality of a student's placement.

01 / ADMISSION PLANNING

Apply the 2026–27 clarification to your shortlist.

The national NEET-appearance requirement has been deferred for BPT/BOT for 2026–27 by the 2 March 2026 NCAHP letter. The course-facts summary above gives the letter’s merit and school-subject requirements. Obtain the current application notice for your intended university or counselling authority to establish the registration process and documents.

For 2027–28, read the subsequently issued national and admitting-authority notices before assuming the same arrangements continue. The date and admission year of a notice matter more than a general claim that BPT always does—or never does—require NEET.

02 / ADMISSION PLANNING

Compare practical training in detail.

Ask how students learn assessment, rehabilitation planning and communication under supervision. Discuss the range of clinical settings available and how practical teaching develops through the programme, rather than relying only on photographs of equipment.

Find out how placements are allocated and whether travel or accommodation is required away from the main campus. Ask how internship supervision, attendance and assessment are documented. Understanding the arrangements early makes both the learning experience and its costs easier to compare.

  • Ask which hospitals or clinical settings receive students.
  • Discuss supervisor access and how feedback is provided.
  • Clarify responsibility for arranging clinical postings and internship.

03 / ADMISSION PLANNING

Connect course fit with a practical budget.

Consider your interest in movement, rehabilitation and working closely with patients over time. Read the subject outline and ask how the programme prepares students for practical responsibilities and further study. Avoid treating BPT as interchangeable with another healthcare qualification.

Request the full fee schedule, including examinations, equipment, travel for postings and living costs. Verify the awarding university, institutional affiliation and applicable professional requirements. Campus Mantra can help structure the comparison; the admitting institution and relevant authorities must confirm your eligibility.

  • Compare the same programme and intake across colleges.
  • Ask about refund terms and document-return arrangements.
  • Review any future registration requirements through official sources.

04 / ADMISSION PLANNING

Ask three precise questions about entrance rules.

First, which examination, if any, must an applicant take for this intake? Second, how is that result used in selection? Third, is a separate institutional or state application required? Ask for the current official notice supporting each answer. This avoids combining an examination requirement with an assumption about the entire admission process.

The MoHFW physiotherapy handbook is a useful curriculum reference, but amendments and intake-specific implementation also need checking. If an older brochure conflicts with a new notice, keep both records and obtain clarification from the admitting authority. Do not rely on an undated social-media statement that a requirement always or never applies.

Read the NCAHP: BPT/BOT admission clarification, 2 March 2026 alongside the applicable intake instructions.

05 / ADMISSION PLANNING

Compare the complete study and placement plan.

Request a programme map showing academic study, practical learning, clinical postings and internship. Check the total duration stated for your intake and how the different components are scheduled. Ask what happens if a posting, assessment or attendance requirement needs to be repeated.

When comparing colleges, use the same questions about teaching and supervision. Find out how students practise assessment, communication and rehabilitation planning before taking greater responsibility. A room full of equipment does not by itself explain how often a student can use it or who provides feedback during practical work.

06 / ADMISSION PLANNING

Understand the travel behind clinical exposure.

List the clinical sites used for student learning and ask who arranges each posting. Check typical travel, accommodation needs and whether the institution provides transport. Clarify whom students contact if the placement arrangement changes or supervision is unavailable.

Ask how attendance, feedback and completion are recorded. If a college highlights an external hospital relationship, ask what that relationship means for your specific batch and programme. Distinguish a general association from a written student-placement arrangement. Add any travel and accommodation implications to your cost comparison before accepting an offer.

07 / ADMISSION PLANNING

Check the awarding body and professional pathway.

Record the exact qualification, awarding university, campus and affiliation or approval evidence applicable to the programme. Ask the institution where the information can be verified independently. Use official university and authority records rather than treating a certificate displayed in an advertisement as the full check.

If you have a particular further-study or professional-registration destination in mind, investigate its requirements separately. Do not assume that admission to one programme guarantees acceptance by another institution or authority later. Save written clarification with your research notes so future decisions can be based on the same identifiable evidence.

08 / ADMISSION PLANNING

Build a shortlist around your own priorities.

Consider your interest in movement, rehabilitation and sustained patient interaction. Ask whether the teaching environment, location and support arrangements fit how you learn. Choose a small number of options that you can compare properly instead of collecting names without understanding their differences.

Include tuition, assessment charges, equipment, clinical travel and living costs in the budget. Confirm payment timing and withdrawal conditions. Bring your academic background, intended intake and unresolved entrance questions to Campus Mantra. The team can help organise your comparison and next questions; the institution and relevant authorities confirm eligibility and admission.

COMMON QUESTIONS

A little more clarity.

Is NEET compulsory for every BPT applicant?

For academic year 2026–27, NCAHP’s 2 March 2026 letter defers mandatory NEET-UG appearance for BPT/BOT until 2027–28 and specifies Class 12 PCB-based merit. Read your admitting authority’s current implementation notice. Do not extend this session-specific deferral to future years automatically.

Can I assume every BPT course has the same duration?

Confirm the curriculum and duration adopted for your batch, including internship. National frameworks and institution implementation must be read together; an older brochure may describe a different intake.

What is the most useful question during a college visit?

Ask where students undertake supervised clinical learning and how placements are organised. Follow up on supervision, assessment, travel costs and internship responsibilities instead of stopping at the equipment tour.
