01 / POSTGRADUATE STUDY

MD/MS at DY Patil Medical College, Pimpri

Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre is located in Sant Tukaram Nagar, Pimpri, Pune 411018. It is a constituent college of Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune. This guide is for doctors considering postgraduate medical study at this campus.

The college lists a three-year MD/MS duration and entry after MBBS from a recognised medical college, through the national postgraduate medical entrance route. See the official broad-specialty course page. Applicants should additionally meet the registration, internship-completion and session-specific requirements in the applicable NEET-PG bulletin.

For undergraduate entry after school, use the separate DY Patil Pune MBBS page.

University, affiliation and recognition

The degree-awarding institution is Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune; the medical college is its constituent teaching institution. The university’s letter dated 19 May 2026 continues affiliation for 250 MBBS seats in academic year 2026–27. This letter covers MBBS and must not be used as evidence of MD/MS specialty-wise permission. Read the session-specific affiliation letter.

Programme recognition, university accreditation and hospital or laboratory accreditation have different scopes. The college’s published course list is linked here for programme information; no university grade or hospital accreditation is presented as a guarantee of a particular student’s training or outcome.

02 / NMC SEAT MATRIX

MD/MS seats in the NMC 2026–27 matrix

These 21 MD/MS specialties are listed for college code MH/011/P/2 in the NMC matrix dated 29 September 2026. Academic year 2026–27. The college’s current PG schedule gives the tuition amounts below. It does not explicitly state the tuition billing period: confirm annual/instalment terms and full-course liability in writing. These are not three-year totals.

Source: Official MD/MS fee schedule 2026–27, checked 13 October 2026. A dash means no amount is listed; it does not establish free tuition or quota availability.

University registration and eligibility fee

One-time, non-refundable registration/eligibility is ₹2,00,000 for clinical subjects and Pathology, or USD 3,000 for listed NRI entries. Other subject cells show dashes; confirm the applicable demand.

Compare the specialty, not just the college name

Dermatology and Radio-Diagnosis now have different tuition amounts. Compare the exact specialty and quota.

Keep four budget lines separate: tuition, one-time eligibility charges, refundable deposits and living costs. A refundable deposit still needs cash at admission; a non-refundable charge remains a cost even when shown outside tuition. Do not calculate a three-year total from this sheet until the billing basis is confirmed. Use the college cost comparison checklist.

04 / LIVING COSTS & DEPOSIT

PG hostel, mess and caution deposit

The 2026–27 PG schedule lists ₹3,40,000 (NRI: USD 4,600) for a three-seater non-AC room with mess. Confirm the unstated billing period.

The one-time ₹50,000 caution deposit is refundable after course completion, without interest and after dues. Read the PG fee terms.

PG ELIGIBILITY

MD/MS eligibility: MBBS, registration and internship

The MCC PG Counselling 2026 bulletin, Chapter 12 requires MBBS qualification, medical-council registration and internship evidence. It specifies 30 September 2026 as the internship-completion cutoff for this admission year, subject to a competent-authority revision. The NBEMS 2026 application portal gives the same cutoff. These are session-specific requirements, not dates for a future intake. Sources checked 13 October 2026.

This means an MBBS graduate should organise three separate records: the qualification, registration and internship-completion evidence. An entrance-test result cannot resolve a missing or ineligible qualification record. Foreign medical graduates and applicants with service or bond obligations may require additional evidence.

NEET-PG qualification is not a specialty allotment

A qualifying result permits consideration through the relevant process; it does not promise General Medicine, Radiology, Surgery or another branch. Your rank, ordered specialty choices, quota eligibility and available seats determine the allotment. Keep a preferred specialty and an affordable alternative as separate choices, rather than treating every seat at one college as interchangeable.

05 / PG ADMISSION

NEET-PG and MCC counselling for MD/MS

Use the MCC postgraduate counselling portal for the deemed-university route, current schedules, seat matrices and allotment results. NEET-PG eligibility, a submitted choice and a final college admission are different stages.

  1. Establish eligibility: prepare your MBBS qualification, registration and internship records against the applicable NEET-PG requirements.
  2. Register for counselling: follow the current MCC instructions and required payments for your route.
  3. Choose the specialty: identify the Pimpri campus, MD/MS subject and quota. Compare that specialty’s financial commitment before ordering choices.
  4. Review the allotment: follow the published reporting, upgrade or exit rules for that round.
  5. Complete reporting: attend document verification and follow the college’s official payment and joining instructions.

MCC 2026 reporting: Chapter 3 distinguishes Freeze (retain the seat and physically join) from Float (seek upgrading through online willingness and document verification in Rounds 1–2). Both require document upload; mandatory reporting follows Round 3 for its allottees and earlier Float candidates who do not upgrade. Read the complete round-specific conditions and amendments in the 2026 counselling bulletin before choosing an option.

Our MD/MS admission guide explains the wider pathway. Campus Mantra provides independent guidance; allotment remains with the relevant authority.

College reporting documents: 2026–27

The college’s PG admission checklist dated 10 October 2026 requires originals, two self-attested photocopy sets and scanned copies on a pen drive. It is the current campus-specific checklist checked for this guide.

  • MCC allotment letter, NEET-PG admit card and result/rank letter.
  • MBBS passing/degree or provisional degree certificate, professional-examination marksheets and attempt certificate.
  • Internship completion certificate or the specified likely-completion certificate, plus permanent/provisional medical registration.
  • Bonafide/character and transfer/migration certificates and the specified institution-recognition certificate.
  • Identity, school/date-of-birth records, medical fitness certificate and five passport-size photographs with a red background.
  • Applicable category/disability, foreign-graduate, NRI, gap, bond-release or in-service NOC records.

Use the complete 2026–27 college checklist and fitness proforma for conditional requirements. Its NRI section directs applicants to pages 18–22 of the MCC 2026 bulletin. Subsequent college and MCC instructions take precedence.

06 / RESIDENCY PLANNING

Department choice, training and stipend

Choose a postgraduate subject with the type of practice and training you want in mind. For a clinical department, discuss supervision, case exposure, duty structure and skills training with the department. For laboratory and academic subjects, examine the relevant laboratory, research and teaching arrangements.

MD/MS stipend: published 2025–26 rates

The Dean-signed college stipend statement for academic year 2025–26 lists monthly MD/MS stipends of ₹85,000 in first year, ₹87,373 in second year and ₹88,117 in third year. These are historical published rates, not a guaranteed 2026–27 or later payment. Official stipend statement, checked 28 September 2026.

A current batch’s stipend terms and any bond or discontinuation liability must come from its written joining documents. Do not offset the entire tuition commitment against three years of assumed stipend receipts.

Choosing a specialty by the work involved

AreaTypical academic and clinical focus
General Medicine, Paediatrics, GeriatricsClinical assessment and medical management across adult, child or older-adult populations.
General Surgery, Orthopaedics, ENT, OphthalmologySpecialty assessment, operative principles, procedures and perioperative care.
Obstetrics & GynaecologyPregnancy, childbirth and reproductive-health care, including medical and surgical training.
Radio-Diagnosis, PathologyDiagnostic interpretation through imaging or laboratory and tissue examination.
Anaesthesiology, Emergency MedicinePerioperative, resuscitation, acute-care and related clinical skills.
Preclinical and other paraclinical subjectsFoundational science, laboratory work, teaching, research or population-health study, depending on the subject.

These descriptions explain subject differences. They do not rank departments or establish a guaranteed job, procedure volume or level of independent practice. Assess the actual programme and supervision before committing to a branch.

Academic training and future pathways

MD/MS is postgraduate medical training in a defined specialty. Career directions may include clinical practice, hospital appointments, research or teaching, subject to registration and the eligibility rules for each role. Some graduates pursue further specialist training; eligibility depends on the permitted feeder qualification and the applicable selection process. An MD/MS seat is not an automatic entitlement to every super-specialty course.

Teaching hospital and clinical facilities

The college’s hospital page lists 2,011 total beds, including 1,642 teaching beds, alongside 32 operation theatres, imaging services, a central clinical laboratory and urban and rural health training centres. These are institutional facilities reported by the college, checked 28 September 2026; bed capacity does not measure attendance, case exposure or procedures performed by an individual trainee. Official hospital facilities and bed distribution.

PG QUESTIONS

DY Patil Pune MD/MS FAQs

What is the MD/MS course duration?

The college’s broad-specialty page lists three years for MD/MS.

Which admission year does the PG fee table cover?

It covers the official 2026–27 PG schedule, checked 13 October 2026. Tuition and hostel billing periods still need written confirmation; do not assume the amounts cover all three years.

Do MBBS fees or cutoffs apply to MD/MS?

No. PG fees depend on the specialty and category, and PG admission uses its own entrance and counselling records.

Are NRI fees listed for every specialty?

No. The official fee sheet lists amounts for selected subjects and dashes for others. Confirm seat availability through the session’s counselling matrix.

Are the seats in this table current-round vacancies?

No. They are seats in the NMC 2026–27 matrix dated 29 September 2026. MCC publishes the seats and quotas available in a counselling round; subsequent regulatory approvals may revise intake.

Can an internship-completion date affect PG eligibility?

Yes. NBEMS requires internship completion by the prescribed date for the admission session. Use the applicable bulletin and amendments; a date from a previous session should not be reused.
